Introducing our Associate Vicar

Introducing our Associate Vicar : The Revd Christopher Johnson

Chris was born and brought up in Telford (not a million miles from the famous Ironbridge).

It was at school that Chris discovered his love of music; learning to play the organ sufficiently well to earn some pocket money, but also moonlighting as a percussionist in the school wind band during a performance at the Royal Albert Hall.

In due course, Chris moved to Canterbury Christ Church University to study Theology and Music which he completed in 2011. Here he enjoyed the music, ale and Cathedral- even becoming a ‘casual’ (i.e. part time rather than idle) Virger in his final year. More importantly still, it was at a chaplaincy discussion group that he met Laura and the rest is a matter for the marriage registers!

After training at Cuddesdon, Chris married Laura and moved to Herefordshire in 2013 to serve his curacy in the Weobley and Staunton Group of Parishes. In early 2014, Chris and Laura adopted Ivor, a somewhat independently minded Springer- Beagle cross who can often be seen out and about with Chris or Laura. Now the three of them find themselves in South Wigston and are enjoying life and ministry here.

You’ll often Fr Chris on his bike or on foot (unless it’s raining) so do feel free to say hello or send a cheery wave!
